Refund Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Finzya is free to use, and paid plans are cheap and easy to leave. This page sets out exactly when you get your money back, how to ask, and how quickly we answer — in plain language, with no conditions hidden further down.
The Short Version
Everything below is the detail behind those three sentences. If your situation is not covered here, write to us anyway — we would far rather hear from you than have you dispute a charge with your bank.
Who You Are Buying From
Paid plans are sold and supplied by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as our merchant of record. In practice that means Paddle is the seller for your purchase: it takes the payment, issues the invoice, and calculates and pays any VAT or sales tax due in your country. Because of that, the charge on your card or bank statement will show Paddle, not Finzya. That is expected, and it is not a mistake or a duplicate charge. Your invoices, your payment method and your cancellation controls all live in the billing portal you can open from your Finzya account settings.
Try Before You Pay
There is no time-limited free trial, because the free tier is the trial. Finzya’s free plan is not a demo — you can add your accounts, record transactions, build budgets and use it for as long as you like without ever entering a card. We would rather you decided on the free plan than pay for a month to find out. This is also why the refund terms below are as simple as they are: nobody should be paying for Finzya before they know whether they want it.
14-Day Money-Back Guarantee
This applies to your first Finzya Pro subscription, on either the monthly or the annual plan, and it is unconditional: you do not have to give a reason, and we do not deduct anything for the days you used it — even though the law would let us. If you subscribe, use Pro for twelve days and decide it is not for you, you get the whole amount back. We ask only that it is genuinely your first subscription; the guarantee is not intended to be used repeatedly on the same account.
Renewals, and Renewals That Catch You Out
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel — monthly plans every month, annual plans every year — and Paddle emails you a reminder before an annual renewal is taken. We know that reminders get missed and cards outlive intentions, so: if an annual renewal is charged and you had not meant to continue, tell us within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it in full and cancel the plan. For a monthly renewal, cancelling stops the next one and you keep Pro until the end of the month you paid for; if the charge was clearly unintended — you had not opened Finzya in months, say — write to us and we will refund it. We are not going to argue with you over one month of a five-pound subscription.
Your Statutory Cancellation Right
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EEA, you have a legal right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days, under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the EU Consumer Rights Directive. Finzya Pro is a service supplied immediately, so at checkout you are asked to confirm that you want it to start straight away and to acknowledge what that means for this right. That confirmation is recorded with the date and time. Strictly, it entitles us to charge for the part of the period you actually used if you then cancel inside the 14 days — but under the guarantee above we do not, and we refund the payment in full. This section is here so you know what you agreed to, not as a condition attached to getting your money back.
How to Cancel
Open Finzya, go to Settings, then Subscription, and choose Manage billing. That opens Paddle’s billing portal, where you can cancel, change your payment method and download every invoice. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep Pro until then, and you are not charged again.
Cancelling never deletes your data. Your account reverts to the free plan with everything you have entered still in it, and you can export it to CSV at any time, on any plan.
How to Ask for a Refund
We reply within 2 working days: Usually the same day. If you have not heard from us in 2 working days, assume the email went astray and send it again rather than waiting.
Approved refunds are issued within 5 working days: The refund is issued through Paddle back to the card or account you paid from. We cannot send it anywhere else.
Your bank then takes its own time: Once Paddle has issued the refund it typically appears within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank. That part is out of everyone’s hands, and it is the commonest reason a refund looks as though it has not happened.
Email contact@finzya.com from the address on your Finzya account, and tell us roughly what happened. You do not need an invoice number, an order id, or a reason you are willing to defend — the account email is enough for us to find the payment.
What We Do Not Refund
This is a short list on purpose, and everything on it is a case where a refund is either impossible or would mean the guarantee was being used as a way to pay nothing.
- Periods already served on a plan you chose to keep — cancelling stops the next payment rather than refunding the current period, and you keep Pro until it ends.
- Repeated use of the 14-day guarantee on the same account, or on a new account created to claim it again.
- An account we have suspended or closed for a serious breach of the Terms of Service, such as fraud or abuse of the service.
- Anything bought from someone other than us or Paddle — we can only refund a payment we can see.
If you think your situation is on this list but the outcome still feels wrong, write to us. The list describes our normal practice, not a set of rules we are unable to depart from.
Please Talk to Us Before Your Bank
If a charge looks wrong, email us first. We can usually resolve it the same day, and a refund reaches you faster than a chargeback does — a bank dispute takes weeks and gives us no way to just fix it. Finzya is a one-person product, and a disputed charge costs considerably more than the subscription itself, so this genuinely matters to us. If you have already raised a dispute you are not in any trouble: tell us and we will work with Paddle to sort it out.
Remember that the charge shows as Paddle on your statement. If that is what looks unfamiliar, that is the explanation, and the Who You Are Buying From section above has the detail.
Your Legal Rights Are Not Affected
Nothing in this policy limits or replaces the rights you have under consumer law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the service is not as described, not carried out with reasonable care and skill, or not fit for purpose. Where this policy offers you more than the law requires, the more generous term applies. Where the law gives you more than this policy, the law applies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the one you agreed to at checkout, and we keep a copy of it — a later change never applies retrospectively to a payment already made. When we make a significant change we will notify existing subscribers by email or in the app.
